Computer Science researcher from 9 am to 5 pm... Paper piecing obsessed person from 7 am to 8:59 am and from 5:01 pm to 11 pm :) I put my hands on a sewing machine for the first time in December 2012 and since then I never stopped! I started designing my patterns after few months because, as a computer scientist, I had to use all those amazing software to create paper piecing patterns! My favorite patterns to design are Alice in Wonderland, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and many other Disney characters. In March 2014, I joined the Fandom in Stitches staff as one of their Bloggers |
All my blocks are available for free (for personal use only) and they are available in the following pages:
Free Patterns, Untested Patterns, Quilt&Stitch-TestAlong
hi there i am lois-a member of fis and f/b of the same site. i am the one who used your mimmie pattern and i'm so sorry if i haven't included a link to your blog etc. however i ALWAYS AND I MEAN ALWAYS put a disclaimer on all my borrowed designs as to who designed it so on the mimmie pillow i quoted : pattern was designed by tweloq and is paper pieced. could you please explain as to how else i can adverise your free patterns as i'm sure there is another time i'll be using your patterns as i'm an additiced fan now of fis.i even tried to advise you of one mistake (if you could call it that) in mimmie but didnt know where i could post it as i couldn't find anywhere to post on the "quilt & stitch test along", so if i could let you know here re: the mistake :- instead of L1,L2 being 2 separate pieces make it one piece. i'm so sorry about your blog but hope i can further use your patterns, please stay on fis. thanks and sorry from loisdownunder
ReplyDeleteHi Lois,
DeleteThanks for stopping by and leaving this feedback. And thanks for testing the Minnie pattern, you did a great job!! :)
I don't necessary need my free patterns to be "advertised", my "sad" post was about the fact that I would like to have direct and personal feedback about my patterns (just a simple email to the address that is in each of my patterns) so that I know if there is something to be fixed or I can start jumping around the house because something I did was used by someone else :)
Designing patterns is not my job so I don't really care too much about my name being associated to my patterns, but what I care is the personal connection that making a pattern designed by someone else can create... this is why I am doing it in the first place: to create a network of friends that share same interests, not to get traffic on my blog!! :)
I hope you can get in touch with me (you are a no-reply blogger so I couldn't send you a personal email... but if you want to send me an email, you can find it in all my patterns).
Have a wonderful weekend!!
Hello,
ReplyDeleteI want to make you a lot of compliments about the beautifull patterns on youre blog! I want to make, as we call it here in the netherland, a droomdeken (dreamblanket) for seriously sick childeren. And i found a few paper piecing patterns that i can and will use for this blanket.

Thanks Durkje!! I am very happy to hear that some of my patterns will make a sick child happy! :)
DeletePlease send me a picture of your blocks when you complete them! I love to see them come to life in fabric!!
Thanks for stopping by and for following me!
Alida
Just found your site, love them all! my gosh, I could download them all...... Have you ever thought about doing a BOM or block of the week for next year? and after so many months people would have enough blocks to make a quilt? I'm really thinking snoopy- email me, if you don't want to be the host, I'd be happy to do it!..... anyways, just an idea :)
ReplyDeleteHate to bring this up but I'm sure these are all licensed images. Do you have the proper authority to do these? Therefore do WE have the proper authority to do these? I don't want to get in trouble for downloading them.
ReplyDeleteIf you are not making items to sell, yes, you do have the right to download them and use them. And I can share them with you again because nothing is for profit.
DeleteThe copyright on each of the pattern is the same as all the wonderful patterns on Fandom In Stitches and it reads as
"Fandom In Stitches and it's designers do not hold copyright on any of the fandom titles represented on this site. Respective Designers reserve copyright on patterns only and request that out of respect for the fandoms we love, that you use them for personal and non-profit reasons only. The Designers at Fandom In Stitches receive no payment for any of the patterns posted and expressly forbid resale. Patterns not to be used for distribution, resale or manufacture. Absolutely no infringement is intended."
If you want to know more you can contact me by email.
I'm sorry but you haven't actually answered the question. You are giving us permission to use your patterns but do you actually have permission to reproduce the copyrighted designs themselves in to the patterns? Whether you are creating and sharing the blocks for profit or giving them away for free has nothing to do with copyright infringement.
DeleteI am no expert about legal issues, but I know that there are many other people running much larger websites (Fandom in Stitches is one of them) that investigated the legal implications on making and sharing these patterns with the community. Again, if you want more details about it, please contact me directly by email (I don't want to start a long discussion here in the comments). There are laws that specify rules for copyright infringement and sharing for free.
DeletePlus, if you think that some specific pattern infringe a copyright that you hold, you can let me know and I will delete that pattern from my website.
Where can I find the heart part of your love pattern? Thank you!
ReplyDeleteAlida, you are incredibly talented! Your designs are so wonderful and so fun! When I read that you first sewed in 2012, I almost fell over! With a gift like that. It is no wonder you are obsessed!
ReplyDeleteFirst I want to thank you for the free Peanuts quilt blocks. My daughter is crazy over Peanuts, especially Snoopy and the Red Baron. I was wondering if it was possible to do pilot snoopy on his house? I am willing to pay since this is a special request.
ReplyDeleteHi Elaine! Thank you for the nice words.
DeleteI sure can make a different pattern for you, but no payment is necessary! Fabric scraps donations are always welcome, but not a requirement ;)
If you send me an email directly with the image that you would like to have as a pattern, I can see what I can do. You find my email address in all my patterns.
I have just come across your blog and would love to be able to make the Minnie And Mickey Mouse foundation piece blocks as my sister is an avid collector can you kindly email me regards lyn
ReplyDeleteHello! I found you through your "We the People" post in the PQ challenge. I'm wondering how you got that Grid layout on your "Free Patterns" page (I have a new blog, and I'm still tweaking some of the pages. If you prefer email pvfleischer (at) gmail. THANK YOU !!
